DISKRESQ / WINDOWS RECOVERY

Choose the files you want to recover

Filter results by exact file type

Use File types to select the extensions you want from the results. For example, select JPG/JPEG and leave PNG unchecked. You can also choose found document, spreadsheet, text, audio and video extensions. The filter includes formats present in the current results; it does not add support for recovering a format.

Files with surviving filesystem records

DiskResQ reads supported FAT16/FAT32, NTFS and exFAT records. When file locations survive, recovery can retain names and recover file types beyond photos and videos, including TXT, PDF and spreadsheet files. Fragmented files depend on usable retained mappings.

Content search when names are missing

Content search looks for recognized file structures. These results may have generic names and unknown deletion status. It cannot reconstruct every file type or arbitrary fragmented media. A supported extension is not a guarantee that any particular file can be recovered.

Known filesystem limits

FAT12 and extended or logical MBR catalogs are not supported. The NTFS/exFAT reader supports primary MBR and validated GPT layouts; the FAT reader does not catalog GPT volumes. NTFS compression, EFS encryption and attribute-list continuations are not decoded. APFS and ext4 are not supported by this Windows application.

Check the saved contents

Open recovered files to check their contents. Copy integrity checks detect changes in copied bytes; they do not prove that an old file is complete or usable. Files known to overlap missing source sectors are excluded from recovery.

Windows requirements

The current Windows application requires Windows 10 or 11 with .NET Framework 4.8. Drive imaging requires administrator permission. Public downloads are not open yet; no public macOS or Linux recovery application is available.
